Ricoh Caplio R2 introduction : In our previous article we mentioned the rumour of a new Ricoh Caplio R2 digital camera. New information learns that the Ricoh R2 will be introduced during or after PMA 2005. The camera has 5.02 effective Megapixels and a 4.8x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 28 - 135mm (equivalent with 35mm format). A large 2.5-inch TFT LCD display covers the back of the Ricoh Caplio R2 digital camera. Due to the ultra slim body (only 25mm) the Ricoh R2 can be carried with you all the time. Ricoh seems to spend research time to the power consumption and announces that the camera can shoot almost 500 images with a fully charged Li-ion battery. The Ricoh Caplio R2 will be available in two colours, silver and black.

Some features of the new Ricoh Caplio R2 are: video clip 320x240 and 160 x 120 pixels, Shutter time 8 sec - 1/2000 and a TFT display of 2.5-inch. The camera uses a Secure Digital card for storage (JPEG, TIFF) and the camera has standard USB 1.1 and Video interfaces, ISO settings 64, 100, 200, 400 and 800, dimensions 100x25x55mm and a weight of 150 gram. The specifications mentioned are at this moment unofficial, but will be updated as soon as we receive more information.
