Panasonic DMC-FP2

Panasonic introduces the new ultra slim design 14.1-megapixel Lumix DMC-FP2 digital camera with a newly developed ultra thin 4x optical zoom (equivalent to 35mm to 140mm on a 35mm camera) lens with folded optics. Newly adopted lens cover is not only for the lens protection but also to serve as a power switch of the camera. Actions of taking the camera out and turning the power of it on can be seamless and astonishingly quick. What is newly featured in the Panasonic DMC-FP2 is HD(high definition) movie recording capability in 720p motion jpeg. Not only viewing the movie on PC but also burning the movie and photos made into a slideshow of MPEG2 file on a DVD disc to enjoy watching it on TV via the bundled software PHOTOfunSTUDIO.

Panasonic DMC-FP1

Panasonic announces new Lumix digital cameras for the 2010 line including the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FP1 digital camera. The new Panasonic DMC-FP1 has a 4x optical zoom lens with a folded optics design so the front has a flat and stylish design, featuring a newly-adopted lens cover that protects the lens, and also serves as the camera’s power switch. The 12.1 megapixel Panasonic Lumix FP1 features a 2.7” 230,000-dot LCD. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FP1 includes Intelligent LCD, which detects the lighting condition and controls the brightness level of the LCD in 11 fine steps, to offer a display with the most appropriate clarity in any situation.

Panasonic Lumix GH1 preview

The arrival of a new GH1 of Panasonic did not exactly come as a surprise, while at the Photokina 2008 we already saw an early prototype of the Panasonic GH1 showcased behind glass Panasonic's press event. The introduction of the Micro Four Thirds system, in cooperation with Olympus, was a good start for Panasonic. In 2008, the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G1 was awarded with the DIWA Gold Award for overall quality and the highly appreciated LUMIX G Vario 14-45mm kit lens. The official introduction of the Panasonic LUMIX GH1 is now a fact, and certainly creates high expectations. The Panasonic GH1 will take video capture with a DSLR to a different level.

Panasonic DMC-GH1

Panasonic introduces the Lumix DMC-GH1 as a new member of the Lumix G Micro System of new generation interchangeable lens system cameras. Fully compliant with the Micro Four Thirds System standard, the Lumix G Micro System combines a downsized body with advanced functions that achieve both easy operation and comfort. The new DMC-GH1 is called a Creative HD Hybrid because it records not only high-quality photos but also high definition 1080/24p or smooth 720/60p HD (High Definition) movies in AVCHD format. Continuous AF can be used while recording movies, to further boost operating ease.

Panasonic TZ7 picture gallery

Just before the PMA, we were invited by Panasonic for a press event, held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. During the event I was given the opportunity to use the new Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ7. The Panasonic LUMIX TZ7 is Panasonic's flagship of the new assortment LUMIX digital cameras for the upcoming season. It is the successor to the TZ5 and Panasonic's hope to continue the successful Travel Zoom series. The specifications aren't bad at all upon first glance. Whereas the TZ5 distinguished itself by featuring a 10x optical zoom in a compact housing, the Panasonic TZ7 even surpasses this with a 12x zoom! This is enough to reach a range of 25-300mm (35mm equivalent) without any effect on the compact size.

Mega O.I.S. suppresses hand-shake and Intelligent ISO Control prevents motion blur.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3

Panasonic introduces the Lumix DMC-ZS3 as the newest member of its acclaimed TZ series. With 10.1-megapixel, a 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens and 12x optical zoom, the Lumix ZS3 (in Europe known as Lumix TZ7) is a worthy addition to a series of digital cameras that have won worldwide popularity for packing powerful zoom lenses into compact bodies. The Panasonic Lumix ZS3 is a powerhouse performer with enormous versatility. The new Panasonic camera features a Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens. Compared with previous models, it extends the power of the optical zoom from 10x to 12x and expands the wide-angle lens from 28mm to an ultra-wide 25mm while reducing both size and weight of the body, giving it the range for virtually all shooting situations.

The PMA show, or Photo Marketing Association, continues its yearly tradition of maintaining a network of photo imaging as well as the experience and know-how of the industry. The PMA represents 20,000 members from over 100 countries, who are all active within the imaging industry. As a reflection of the changes in the market, the PMA organization has also changed and has become more diverse. Nowadays, the member group consists of representatives coming from photo retail, manufacturers, commercial photo labs, professional sports and news photography, in addition to small album print suppliers and photo processing centers. The PMA 2010 Trade show focuses on an industry which is heavily affected by the unstable situation of the global financial economy. However, whether the latter will also stand in the way of the innovation and product introductions, remains to be revealed by the 2010 PMA International Convention & Trade Show in Anaheim Convention Center (California, US).
