PMA 2010 Report
The Olympus booth at the PMA 2009 show is quite well-arranged and provides a lot of space to give a complete camera overview. Striking is the fact that the Olympus E-620 is actually the only real new digital SLR camera of the entire show, which is of course very nice for Olympus. As a result, there was even more interest in the compact E-620. I myself had the opportunity to make several sample pictures in between my busy schedule, on the Strip in Las Vegas. And the first impression of this camera is a good one. It's compact and has features that are directly copied from the semiprofessional E-30 which makes it so pleasant to shoot with it.
Micro FourThirds system

During last year’s Photokina 2008 in Germany, the Micro FourThirds system was jointly introduced by Olympus and Panasonic. And although Panasonic pocketed the gain during the Photokina by introducing the Panasonic LUMIX G1 digital camera, Olympus was not forgotten, and curiosity about the plans of Olympus with this system stayed on. At the opening, Olympus showed a Micro FourThirds design concept to the international press, and afterwards to the public, with the announcement that this kind of concept belongs to the possibilities, but that it does not necessarily equal the end-product.

We've managed to get hold of the first full production Olympus E-620 DSLR camera, and we have made several sample pictures on the famous Strip in Las Vegas. The Olympus E-620 is currently the world's smallest and most light-weight DSLR with built-in image stabilization. However; it's not only the weight that makes the E620 stand out from the crowd. The camera uses techniques of the semi-professional Olympus E-30, lifting the bar for quality again. In addition to the Live MOS sensor with 12.3 Megapixels, the Olympus E620 features a handy vari-angle LCD display that can be folded in and out, which is ideal when you want to take pictures from an awkward angle. Live View provides the extra ease.

As children, our imaginations run wild and finger-painted artistic creations are proudly displayed on our family refrigerators. But as we grow older, we learn to color inside the lines, and have less and less time for art. We often lose touch with how satisfying it is to create something uniquely our own. Olympus delivers the new E-620 digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera to bring back that free-style experimenting and the magical feeling of being inspired by our own art. The new camera’s easy-to-use Art Filters and Multiple Exposures (built right into the camera) are fun for consumers - whether you’ve been shooting for years or picked up your first digital camera today.

Olympus rewrote the rule book again for how powerful a point-and-shoot camera’s zoom can be with the launch of the new 26x optical zoom SP-590 Ultra Zoom. Its extremely versatile zoom lens can capture extraordinary images at virtually any distance - from a delicate flower close up to wide-angle photographs of friends posing before the vast Grand Canyon, or even images shot from the back row of the stadium that look like they were taken courtside. The Olympus SP-590UZ is the “total package” and an investment in your imaging future that is well worth making. It offers the advanced manual controls that experienced photographers demand and find on a digital SLR (single lens reflex).

Olympus, the company that introduced shock-proof and waterproof cameras to mass consumers in 2006, announces the new Stylus 550WP. Thanks to waterproofing technology adopted from Olympus’ Stylus Tough series cameras, the new Stylus waterproof camera is optimized for consumers who want to take stunning images of their aquatic adventures, making it the perfect pool companion. “In a recent study of consumers considering the purchase of a new digital camera, they overwhelmingly selected weatherproofing as a desired feature,” said Tomoko Matsunaga, product manager, Olympus Imaging America Inc.
