PMA 2010 Report
Building on a strategy for growth that was evident last fall at photokina, KIS Photo-Me Group said it comes to PMA this year with an even sharper focus on demonstrating to photo retailers the tools and expertise that will help them significantly expand the creative range of digital photo products they can offer to increasingly demanding photography consumers. The company’s innovative new imaging products and exhibits on display at the PMA include a large-screen walk-up photo kiosk that lets consumers easily and immediately turn their snapshots into a variety of photo keepsakes; a versatile, high-speed, self-service “dry lab;” and numerous creative photo product samples.
A jury of photographic imaging experts has determined that output from the DKS 1770 and DKS 1610 digital minilabs, manufactured by KIS Photo-Me Group, is superior to any of its competitors, and has awarded the minilabs first prize in this year’s DIMA Shoot-Out image quality competition, it was announced at the Photo Marketing Association Convention and Trade Show here. This is the fifth straight year that DKS minilabs from KIS Photo-Me Group have taken top honors in the DIMA Shoot-Out. This year, the DKS 1770 was selected for best image quality in the up-to-12-inch-wide category, while the DKS 1610 was selected best in the important up-to-8-inch-wide category.
While most exhibit booths at the Photo Marketing Association trade show are displaying imaging equipment, the KIS Photo-Me Group is dedicating significant space in its booth to My Creativ’ Corner - where show attendees can see and brainstorm ideas for creative consumer photo products that increase a photo retailer’s profits as well as its reputation among consumers, KIS Photo-Me Group said. In My Creativ’ Corner, KIS Photo-Me Group imaging experts will present and discuss numerous creative photo product concepts to stimulate attendees’ ideas for creating fun, exciting photo products that consumers today say they want. All of the display samples can be produced using KIS Photo-Me Group imaging products.
Photo-Me International plc announced that the company will conduct market trials later this year of a new category of high-speed photo kiosk using Memjet inkjet technology. Memjet inkjet technology, developed by Silverbrook Research Pty Ltd., is being commercialized by Memjet Photo Retail Ltd. Market trials of the new inkjet photo kiosks are expected to get underway by the third quarter of 2007 at selected Photo-Me customer sites in France, and later at other customer sites in Europe, the Americas and Japan. Memjet technology is based on a page-wide inkjet print head that enables low-cost, high-speed photo printing at currently unattainable levels, according to Photo-Me and Memjet Photo Retail.
