Fujifilm digital cameras at PMA

PMA 2009 Report
Tuesday 10th, March 2009
Posted by: Mark Peters

As always, Fujifilm had a grand presentation at the PMA with emphasis on printing and other services within the field of photography. Various photo kiosks and minilabs were showcased, and we also came across Fujifilm's 3D concept again. The Fujifilm S5 Pro, which is still very much appreciated by a large group of faithful fans, has disappeared. The fact that Fujifilm is no longer flirting with a digital SLR will not have surprised the attentive reader. The developments did not keep pace with the competition, and depending on third parties, for example for the housing, does not seem ideal. Yet, I can still imagine that Fujifilm will make themselves heard again, perhaps at Photokina 2010.

Fujifilm FinePix Real 3D camera

Posted by: Ilse Jurrien Saturday 7th, March 2009

Fujifilm took a prototype of a 3D camera along to the PMA show 2009 in Las Vegas. In addition to a pair of concept 3D cameras we saw before at the Photokina 2008, a plastic bold; unfortunately with annoying reflection, held a new prototype 3D camera. Perhaps already a functioning model, since the LEDs of the camera were shown activated. The Fujifilm Real 3D imaging concept is a full system of a digital camera, printer and display, and is a very interesting branch of photography. However, even now, I can't imagine it becoming a product for the masses, but it certainly seems to become a nice accessory.

Las Vegas gallery : Fujifilm F200EXR

Posted by: Mark Peters Wednesday 4th, March 2009

During the worldwide introduction of the new Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR, we were already able to provide a preview. During the PMA in Las Vegas, I took a production model of the Fujifilm F200EXR along to get started for the upcoming review. The Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR is the first camera to feature the new Super CCD EXR image sensor. This sensor was officially introduced at the Photokina 2008 and is a technical innovation of which Fujifilm has very high expectations indeed. The history of Fujifilm sensors shows that a lot of effort is generally put into research, in order to improve pixel quality without prioritizing on pixel amounts. As far as we're concerned, this is an excellent choice.
