Canon G9 review

Posted by: Dennis Hissink Friday 7th, December 2007

Sometimes digital camera manufacturers actually listen to testers and users of digital cameras. In any case Canon did when developing the PowerShot G7. A terrific camera except for one minus; no RAW format was available and especially the photographer wanting a compact camera besides his DSLR was disappointed. But the successor, the Canon PowerShot G9, does offer RAW format making this top compact camera a very interesting one for the demanding and the professional photographer. Adding RAW format is not the only thing Canon has changed on the G9. The Canon G9 is now equipped with a new image sensor with 12 million pixels.

Canon EOS 40D

Posted by: Dennis Hissink Thursday 23rd, August 2007

Canon introduces its latest digital SLR for advanced amateurs and semi-professionals: the Canon EOS 40D. With a 10.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor, 6.5 frames per second burst performance, a newly developed AF system and 3.0” LCD with Live View mode, the Canon EOS 40D makes significant advances in both performance and versatility. The Canon 40D camera benefits from the new EOS technology platform introduced earlier this year with the professional EOS‑1D Mark III. Canon’s DIGIC III processor delivers responsive operation, improved color rendering and near-instant start-up time. The EOS Integrated Cleaning System combats sensor dust, while a strong magnesium alloy body with weather resistance ensures lasting durability.

Canon at PMA 2007

Posted by: Ralf Jurrien Tuesday 27th, March 2007

The Canon booth at the PMA 2007 Las Vegas is as always overwhelmingly large and outsized. The Canon digital imaging booth is overcrowded and people are fascinated by the large series of compact camera models and of course the new race-monster, the world's fastest digital SLR camera; the Canon EOS 1D Mark III. The year 2007 is a brilliant year for Canon. Not only because Canon has conquered and still holds an important market share but also because it is exactly seventy years ago that the first Canon camera was born. It was the Canon S and the first one in a long array of successful cameras. Also the step from analogue to digital was carried out incredibly fast and on a professional level.

PMA 2009 - The digital SLR camera market is booming. Compared to last year the DSLR camera sales increased with impressive numbers and it seems the digital SLR camera has become a mass consumer product. New entry level D-SLR cameras with 6 Megapixels surprisingly were welcomed very well by the amateur photographer and it seems that within this segment of the digital camera market the resolution range of 6 - 10 Megapixel fulfils the need of the amateur photographer. Without lenses the digital SLR camera would not be complete and it is for that reason we see a huge number of digital SLR lens introductions appear this year. There are multiple camera manufacturers offering their best own brand solution for its DSLR camera, but there are even more specialized lens manufacturers who offer an impressive number of lens solutions too. Keep your eye on the digital SLR lens section of this PMA 2009 report for the latest introductions!
