PMA 2009 Sneak Peak

Posted by: Dennis Hissink Thursday 5th, March 2009

The day prior to the opening of the PMA 2009 Show is usually Sneak Peak day. Journalists can enroll for this small event, to get a Sneak Peak of several new products that will be presented at PMA 2009's show floor. This is not a big event; generally a few long rows of booths are put up, with a small representation of the brand. Additionally, it gives us the opportunity to make several appointments during or before PMA, and we're always happy to meet our friends and acquaintances again. All in all, a relaxed atmosphere and a warm-up for the annual PMA Imaging Convention and Trade Show 2009.

PMA 2009

Posted by: Mark Peters Thursday 5th, March 2009

The beginning of a year always starts with several highly interesting events in which imaging plays a main role. The CES in Las Vegas has only just closed its doors, but there is much more coming up; in February there's the Mobile World Congress in which mobile imaging seems to gradually become more important, and in March it's the PMA 2009 show again in Las Vegas. These are hectic times in which all the manufacturers introduce their new series of DSLR cameras, compact cameras, phones, lenses and other accessories for the following season. The majority of the cameras are introduced in January & February, yet luckily the upcoming PMA show has more than enough to offer and will show several very interesting cameras.

The PMA, or Photo Marketing Association, continues a long tradition of maintaining a network of photo imaging as well as the experience and know-how of the industry. The PMA represents 20,000 members from over 100 countries, who are all active within the imaging industry. As a reflection of the changes in the market, the PMA organization has also changed and has become more diverse. Nowadays, the member group consists of representatives coming from photo retail, manufacturers, commercial photo labs, professional sports and news photography, in addition to small album print suppliers and photo processing centers. The PMA 2010 focuses on an industry which is heavily affected by the unstable situation of the global financial economy. However, whether the latter will also stand in the way of the innovation and product introductions, remains to be revealed by the PMA International Convention and Trade Show in the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California, USA.
