Samsung GX-1S preview
For years Samsung introduced compact camera models, but after announcing the agreement with Pentax to cooperate and jointly develop new digital camera products, we see Samsung entering the digital SLR market as well. About a month ago Samsung announced the Samsung GX-1S dSLR camera, those of you who are familiar with the Pentax *ist DS2 digital SLR camera will notice that the specifications of the two models are 99.9% identical. The Samsung GX 1S features an effective 6.1 Megapixel resolution, incorporates an 11-point AF sensor, includes a high-speed consecutive shooting mode of up to 2.8 frames per second, up to eight frames in JPEG shooting and up to five frames per second when shooting in Raw Mode.

Schneider D-Xenon 18mm-55mm lens - The Samsung GX-1S digital SLR camera comes as a body alone or with a standard zoom lens. The Samsung D-Xenon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is a light weight (225 g) lens with a Pentax KAF mount. The Samsung dSLR camera will utilize the new Schneider Kreuznach D-Xenon lens system and Pentax's lens KAF bayonet mount technology. This will result in the fact that all Pentax dSLR lenses will be mountable on the Samsung GX-1S. According to the official information from Samsung the new D-Xenon lens has been especially developed for use with the new Samsung GX-1S camera. The compact Samsung D-Xenon lens is both portable and affordable to ensure easy operations.

Samsung GX-1S - Multi-pattern metering - For outstanding image quality, the Samsung 1S DSLR features high-precision, 16 segment multi-pattern metering to assure accurate light measurement in addition to center-weighted metering and spot metering for more advanced applications. To provide accurate focusing on a variety of subjects the Samsung 1S incorporates a 11-point AF sensor and a choice of AF single or AF-continuous for a wide variety of options. For further image control, users can chose from several White Balance settings and a variety of automatic shooting modes.
Samsung GX-1S SLR preview - Compared to a year ago the digital industry is changing rapidly. Respectable manufacturers are losing ground or, better said, were never able to transform from analogue to digital like major players such as Canon. It was a shame to lose Konica Minolta as a brand for digital cameras, and it seems that this brand is not the only one to leave the digital camera market. On the other hand, players like Samsung are eager to take over and are transforming rapidly into active digital camera manufacturers. Samsung cooperates with Pentax and introduced the Samsung GX-1S digital SLR camera. Although we have had this pre-production sample in the office for a short period of time we can still give you an extensive preview of the first Samsung digital SLR. Read all the details about this new digital SLR in our Samsung GX-1S preview, including a comparison chart and several product images.
