Sony MVC CD350 - PMA 2003
Sony MVC CD350
Today Sony USA introduces a new CD-Mavica camera with 3.3 effective Megapixels. The new MVC-CD350 has a stylish, slim shaped body with a weight of 522g (without battery and accessories). The camera is equipped with a 1/2.7" Super HAD CCD and a 3x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 6.4-19.2mm equivalent to 41-123mm on a 35mm camera. The CD-Mavica cameras are using an 8cm CD-R/RW optical disc for storage. In fact this is the cheapest way to store data and at the same time ready for your archive. The new MVC-CD350 offers some new features that will be popular among those who want to record their data on CD-R/RW.
The 3.2 Megapixel resolution will offer enough detail and provides users to print photo-quality prints of 4"x6". The MVC-CD350 captures in four different image sizes, in TIFF mode of Standard JPEG compression. The highest resolution is 2048x1536 pixels. The new Smart Zoom function provides a zoom without quality sacrifice by adjusting the zoom ratio intelligently to the image resolution. The new CD-Mavica camera has a lot of new features like a USB 2.0 interface for transporting the data as fast as possible to a connected computer. The extra large 2.5" LCD display (123.000 pixels) provides an excellent viewing angle for playback the images or capture all those moment in life. Besides capturing still images the MVC-CD350 can also handle video clips. The MPEG Movie VX mode captures VGA (640x480 pixels) with a frame rate of 16fps with a length that is only limited by the capacity of the media that is used. The recordable media can hold on to 156MB of data, so there is room for a couple of hundreds of images or video clips.

The 3x optical zoom lens provides an aperture of f3.8 - f3.9 in tele. The minimal focus distance is 50cm to infinity and in macro mode just 10cm. The shutter speed has a range of 1/30-1/1000e sec, when using the Twilight mode the slowest speed is 1 sec. When the user has to focus in difficult light situations the AF illuminator helps establish a positive focus lock on the subject. The multi-pattern metering is light-metering 49 points of the frame to produce a correct metered image. To maintain focus lock with fast moving subjects the continuous focus function keeps on focusing until the moment of exposure. With 5 scene modes (Twilight, Twilight portrait, Landscape, Snow and Beach), the camera parameters can be matched to the shooting conditions. The new Sony MVC-CD350 will be available on the American market; the European market will only introduce the MVC-CD500 camera.
