The Optio33L follows the successful footsteps of the Optio330GS. This new stylish and compact camera has a resolution of 3.2 million effective Megapixels and offers the same versatile advantages as the Optio330GS. This time the versatile LCD display on the back of the Optio33L swivels 180° both vertically and horizontally. The new camera from Pentax has a 3.2 Megapixel CCD and a 12-bit A/D converter resulting in a greater dynamic range and higher level gradation recording of the data on the CCD. The Optio33L has a 3x optical zoom lens that is equivalent to 38-114mm on a 35mm camera. Through the integration of a two-stage retraction mechanisme the Optio33L has some pretty compact dimensions of just 105x63x41.5mm and a weight of 180g. With these numbers the Optio33L can be taken anywhere you want to go.
The Optio33L offers simple, stress-free operation through the incorporation of a newly developed image processing circuit. Images can be played back with the simple press of a button, and new shots to be taken at any time as the camera is always primed for action as long as the power is turned on - even during playback modes. With the incorporation of a virtual mode dial on the LCD monitor, the selection of shooting modes is also very easy indeed.
Simply select the most appropriate mode from the ample choice of Program, Picture, Night Scene, Movie, 3D image, Panorama Assist, Auto Bracketing, and Digital Filter modes. Finally, for even more swift operation, the 33L also has standalone buttons for frequently used functions related to the composition and playback of images.

The camera features a handy swivelling LCD display which can be swivelled 180° both vertically and horizontally. This new LCD display allows to make pictures from any angle you want to make them. An already known Pentax feature is stereoscopic shooting function.
Simply take two shots following the simple guidance given by the camera, and be prepared to see results that have a real 3D sense of perspective when seen through the special viewer provided. With a choice of eight different picture modes, the Optio33L prepares the user for a diverse range of situations and circumstances. Simply select from Landscape, Flower, Portrait, Self-portrait, Soft, Surf & Snow, Sunset and Illustration modes on the LCD monitor and allow the Optio33L to automatically decide and set the optimum settings for your subject.
Other specifications of the new Optio33L are: USB interface, built-in flash with five modes, ACDSee software on CD, 3X optical zoom that can be combined with 2.7X digital zoom for an impressive combined zooming power of 8X, recorded images can be set to be automatically displayed one after the other on the LCD monitor through use of the Slide show feature, self-timer, continue shooting of three images, macro mode with a minimum distance of 10cm, manual focusing, wide AF and spot AF, selectable white balance modes, histogram, multi-segment, centre weight and spot-metering, selectable ISO of 100, 200 or 400ISO, Exposure compensation with a range of +2EV in 1/3EV steps, settings for sharpness, saturation, and contrast, a mode memory function that allows you to save a combination of settings in accordance with your desires, world time function, DPOF, PIM II, Audio and Video interface, CompactFlash type I storage and for power 2 AA NiMH batteries.
