Pentax *ist D
Some time ago Pentax had already showed a 6 Megapixel camera, but this one did never made it to the real market. The project got a hold on and we al had to wait on the day that someday definitely had to come. Today is the day that Pentax proudly can introduce their successfully developed lens-interchangeable digital SLR camera - an innovation that delivers the clarity of 6.1 effective Megapixels and satisfies the requirements of various kinds of users. This new advance will be showcased at PMA 2003 in Las Vegas, at CeBIT 2003 and at PhotoExpo 2003 in Japan. LetsGoDigital will visit the PMA (March 2-5) and CeBIT (March 12-19), so we would be able to take a closer look in some days from now!
The new Pentax *ist D will be equipped with a high-performance CCD with dimensions of 23.5mmx15.7mm and embracing unique image processing technology, the *ist D achieves impressive 6.1 effective Megapixel resolution for the recording of precise, superior quality images. The new digital SLR camera from Pentax has - as of February 27, 2003 - the world's smallest and lightest body. The architecture of the Pentax *ist D has been specially designed to combine the utmost in compact dimensions with a surprisingly light weight. Indeed, with dimensions of just 129(w)x95(h)x60(d)mm and a weight of only 510g (excluding batteries), the Pentax *ist D is the smallest, lightest lens-interchangeable digital SLR camera available on the market right now.

Pentax has a wide range of compatible Pentax lenses for use with the new Pentax *ist D camera, allowing the user to compose satisfying scenes regardless of the type of subject. The compatible lenses are K, Ka, Kaf and Kaf2 mount lenses, screw mount lenses, 645, and 67 series lenses with the need of a required adapter. Some of the functions of some lenses may not activate depending on the choice of lens. The Pentax *ist D has a brand new developed optical pentaprism viewfinder.
