FujiFilm FinePix F700 - PMA 2003
FujiFilm FinePix F700 digital camera
With the introduction of the new FinePix F700 FujiFilm raises the maximum resolution for compact consumer cameras to a respectable 6 Megapixels. The FinePix F700 is the first camera that is equipped with the 4th generation Super CCD SR sensor which results in 6.2 million effective pixels. The FinePix 700 is the first 6 Megapixel compact digital camera on the market today. FujiFilm' s Super CCD SR will provide a truer representation of the actual subject being photographed, revealing highlight detail and increased dynamic range, and resulting in more detailed images, particularly in dark and highlight areas. The 6 Megapixel resolution is equivalent to 2832x2128 pixels, but whoever wants to use a lower resolution is also able to set the pixel rate to 2048x1536, 1600x1200 or 640x480 pixels. The new Super CCD SR allows selecting ISO setting to 1600 ISO; however this setting is only available in a 1MP resolution.

Besides the 1/1.7" 6 Megapixel Super CCD SR the new FinePix F700 is equipped with a Super EBC Fujinon3x optical zoom lens with a focus distance equivalent to 35-105mm on a 35mm camera. The FinePix F700 uses autofocus or manual focus with a minimal focal range in normal mode of approx. 60cm to infinity or in macro mode of approx. 9cm to 80cm. The shutter speed has a range of 3 - 1/2000 sec and the aperture range is between f3.2 and f8. Sensitivity is equivalent to ISO200, 400, 800 or 1600 ISO. Exposure control will be selectable from Program AE to aperture or shutter priority. White balance is fully automatic, but also selectable in eight positions (P, S, A, M). The LCD monitor on the back of the camera is 1.8" with 134,000 pixels.
More details of the FinePix F700 are auto bracketing, sharpness (hard, soft, normal) flash brightness adjustment and a movie mode with 640x480 (VGA) resolution and 30 frames per second (approx. 223 seconds VGA/30fps on a 256MB xD-Picture card). The illustrated cradle will be delivered together with the FinePix F700 digital camera.

All of the images are stored in JPEG (Exif 2.2) or in CCD-RAW format, the movies are stored in AVI format. An xD-Picture card is for storage. The FinePix F700 has a weight of 190gr (excluding NP-40 battery) and the dimensions are 108x54x28mm.
Some further specifications are:
When the resolution is selected in 6 Megapixels the image data size will be approx. 1.5MB, in a resolution of 3 Megapixels the size will be approx. 590KB. When the CCD-RAW format is selected the image data size will increase into to big 12.9MB file.
The FinePix F700 is using an AF auxiliary light to allow easier focusing in dimly lit conditions, after pressing halfway down the shutter button the camera will fire a green light.
The selectable light metering modes are multi, spot or average. The FinePix F700 has also a selectable focus mode with 4 selectable settings; the factory default is Auto, where the camera automatically recognizes the subject in the central area of the screen. The second mode is AF centre, in this mode the camera will only focus in the middle of the screen. The MF mode is used to manual focus on subjects that are difficult to autofocus and the last one is the AF Area mode. This mode lets you change the position of the AF area on the screen. By pushing the C-AF button and pressing the 4-way controller the AF Area can be moves throughout the whole screen.
