Nikon Europe is proud to announce the new Nikon Coolpix S230 digital camera. The 3-in. LCD for the Coolpix S230 is a delight to both the eyes and the fingers. Its large size and high-resolution make picture-taking and playback more enjoyable. But it’s the breakthrough excitement of the new optimized touch screen interface that makes the experience magic. The screen of the Nikon Coopix S230 features AG coating that resists fingerprints and anti-reflection coating for better display in bright situations.

Nikon Coolpix S230 - Scene Auto Selector
Nikon’s Scene Auto Selector eliminates the need to manually select a scene mode to match the shot, and this makes it faster and easier to capture the moment in beautiful fashion. The Nikon Coolpix S230 uses this intelligent function to analyze the subject and its surrounding settings and automatically selects the most appropriate of the following six scene modes to achieve optimal results - Portrait, Landscape, Night Portrait, Night Landscape, Close-up, or Backlight.

Nikon S230 camera - Smart Portrait System
The Nikon Coolpix S230 automatically detects as many as 12 faces in the shot, Face-priority AF helps produce satisfying portraits by adjusting focus and exposure. Smile Mode automatically releases the shutter when the priority subject smiles and offers the new Blink Proof function, which automatically shoots two sequential frames and saves the one in which the subject’s eyes are open-wide. The Nikon S230 now features faster processing speed, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically corrects any perceived red-eye effect before saving the image to memory.

Nikon Coolpix S230 - VR image stabilization
Nikon's electronic VR image stabilization compensates for the effects of camera shake. The Motion Detection feature on the Nikon Coopix S230 automatically controls shutter speed and the ISO setting to compensate for subject movement as well as camera shake. ISO 2000 capability allows faster shutter speeds when shooting in low light or capturing fast-moving subjects. And, Nikon’s original BSS (Best Shot Selector) function automatically shoots a series of sequential frames and saves the one with the sharpest focus.

The PMA show, or Photo Marketing Association, continues its yearly tradition of maintaining a network of photo imaging as well as the experience and know-how of the industry. The PMA represents 20,000 members from over 100 countries, who are all active within the imaging industry. As a reflection of the changes in the market, the PMA organization has also changed and has become more diverse. Nowadays, the member group consists of representatives coming from photo retail, manufacturers, commercial photo labs, professional sports and news photography, in addition to small album print suppliers and photo processing centers. The PMA 2012 Trade show focuses on an industry which is heavily affected by the unstable situation of the global financial economy. However, whether the latter will also stand in the way of the innovation and product introductions, remains to be revealed by the PMA International Convention & Trade Show in Anaheim Convention Center (California, US).
