When Kata introduced its Global Digital Collection to the world for the first time in 2004, it gave photographers something new to look forward to - a line of protective carrying solutions, everyday traditional designs and redefine what a bag and case should be. The GDC line brought a fresh, high tech perspective to the imaging world, and put Kata on the radar screens of both professional and amateur shooters worldwide. At PMA 2007, Kata will extend the collection with four new bags, each of which coincide with the high-tech, protective design philosophy that has become synonymous with the GDC. The new additions include the R-101 Rucksack, W-94 Waist Pack, H-10 Holster and the RL-302 Laptop Rucksack.

From their ergonomic design to the vibrant, scratch and static resistant ‘yelloop’ internal fabric, the GDC line stands out from their less ardent crowd of competitors and has redefined the market of protective carrying solutions. Like all Kata products, the GDC line is about much more than just an attractive and aesthetically pleasing design. These products are above-all a protective solution, enhanced by Kata’s unique Thermo Shield Technology (TST). TST is a state-of-the-art design that provides ultimate protection in an extremely lightweight package. The outer shell of the TST is thermo formed in a protective “rib shape” construction, and made from a Mil-Std, double cord Super Nylon® to protect expensive gear from water, dust and a host of other potentially damaging elements. Beneath that is a cross linked, closed cell PE + EVA shield that shelters sensitive equipment from shock and impact, while also insulating it from extreme temperatures.

Kata camera bag - R-101 Rucksack
The new, compact R-101 rounds out the Rucksack backpack family, joining the larger R-102 and R 103. Designed to hold a D/SLR body with lens attached, additonal lenses and accessories, the R-101 provides shooters with an advanced, protective carrying solution for their expensive photographic equipment. The R-101’s center compartment is reinforced with Kata’s TST and is separate from the rest of the bag, allowing shooters to quickly access their camera without the rest of their gear falling out. Users can also divide the arched lid compartment to fit their specific equipment with the included Modi-Vers dividers. Additonally, a rear padded compartment can accommodate small laptop computers, up to 12 inches. Like the rest of the Rucksack family, the R-101 feaures a five point, fully adjustable, ergonomic harness and shock absorbtion system, offering users unmatched comfort.

Kata GDC camera bag line - W-92 Waist Pack
For those who wish to “shoot from the hip,” Kata is pleased to now offer a larger version of its popular W-92 Waist Pack. Designed for all D/SLR systems, the new W-94 incorporates many of the same features of its smaller sibling, including TST protection, various carrying options such as the included belt strap, shoulder strap, or handle, and an ergonomic center compartment that opens away from the shooter’s body, providing clear, unobstructed access to the enclosed photo gear. The center compartment can accommodate a D/SLR with two to four lenses and additional accessories, such as a flash, lens hood, charger, power supply and more, and with the included Modi-Vers kit, users can configure the compartment to specifically to fit the gear within. Kata camera bag - H-10 holster
The new, revolutionary H-10 holster offers shooters quick and easy access to their D/SLR and zoom lens set. TST protection provides ultimate protection and five additional padded accessory pockets allow users to carry a variety of additional gear, including filters, light meters, power supplies, cell phones and more. The D/SLR can be held in place by looping the divider around the lens vertically or positioning it horizontally (when the camera and lens set up is shorter than the length of the holster), giving shooters the opportunity to create a bottom compartment for additional accessories. A handle, a BSS shoulder strap and a 3D-mesh loop for waist belt connection offer users a variety of comfortable carrying options. For sling carrying the holster can also be attached to the Kata S-308 sling platform, providing additional storage.

Kata camera bag - RL-302 Laptop Rucksack
With the launch of the new RL-302 Laptop Rucksack, Kata will for the first time be targeting the mobile lifestyles of professionals and executives, giving them the ability to organize, store and protect their equipment and traveling gear while on the go. The backpack features TST protection and is designed specifically for the ever-changing, day-to-day travel routines of those always on the move. The RL-302 provides professionals with two storage options, including a removable laptop shoulder bag that can be integrated into the TST mid-section of the Rucksack or that can be used on its own as an individual laptop case. When using the removable laptop case, executives will be able to quickly remove their laptop when necessary, making it ideal for airport security checkpoints. If users choose to not to use the removable laptop case, a secondary laptop slot is available inside the rear compartment of the RL-302. Additionally, the RL-302 features large front and rear padded compartments, with various organizer panels that will hold folders, documents and accessories, and several designated pockets for personal effects, such as PDAs, cell phones MP3 players, wallets and passports. For added versatility, the RL-302 can be carried in a number of ways, including a comfortable harness system with padded back support, a top handle or Kata’s patented InserTrolley system for easy, roll-along transportation (not included).

The PMA show, or Photo Marketing Association, continues its yearly tradition of maintaining a network of photo imaging as well as the experience and know-how of the industry. The PMA represents 20,000 members from over 100 countries, who are all active within the imaging industry. As a reflection of the changes in the market, the PMA organization has also changed and has become more diverse. Nowadays, the member group consists of representatives coming from photo retail, manufacturers, commercial photo labs, professional sports and news photography, in addition to small album print suppliers and photo processing centers. The PMA 2012 Trade show focuses on an industry which is heavily affected by the unstable situation of the global financial economy. However, whether the latter will also stand in the way of the innovation and product introductions, remains to be revealed by the PMA International Convention & Trade Show in Anaheim Convention Center (California, US).
