General Imaging launched the A730 at PMA 2007, the Photo Marketing Association’s annual international conference and the leading photo industry convention and trade show. The General imaging A730 represents the first time General Electric has bestowed its highly regarded and trusted brand on a consumer camera line. General Imaging, led by Chairman & CEO Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, is the exclusive worldwide licensee for the GE cameras. The GE A730 offers popular advanced features as standard at every price point, including face tracking, image stabilization, red-eye removal, high ISO sensitivity, and panoramic stitching. The GE A730 sets a new benchmark for point-and-shoot digital cameras with a strong product identity.

GE A730 camera - 7 Megapixel
The GE A730 is our most affordable point-and-shoot camera. Yet it has the firepower of cameras nearly twice its suggested retail price. You want megapixels? The A730 has seven - you don’t see that every day in a basic model. A simple, intuitive user interface makes the A730 easy to use right out of the box. A 3X optical zoom and a 4.8X digital zoom capture superior close-ups. And a vibrant 2.5-inch LCD screen makes it easy to frame your subject and review your images. Packed inside its sleek and stylish camera body is a whole host of additional features like in-camera panoramic stitching, red-eye removal, face-tracking, electronic stabilization and MPEG-4 movie recording.

Powered by two AA batteries, the A730 even has an SD/SDHC memory card slot expandable up to an amazing 4 gigabytes. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more feature-rich entry-level camera. And that’s why the A730 is one of the first cameras worthy of the GE name.

About General Imaging
Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya had already been at the pinnacle of business. He spent nearly three decades with Bridgestone Firestone, the global tire company. Then it was on to the camera business, where he worked for Olympus Corporation for more than a decade, culminating in his tenure as President of Olympus Imaging Corporation. Not a bad record, to be sure. He retired on June 29, 2005, at the age of 63, and like retirees the world over, he soon had a lot more time to perfect his golf swing. And that was nice for a while. But the kind of drive that gives Komiya his greatest thrill doesn’t come from a tee shot. It comes from a business challenge met and conquered. It’s the drive behind the entrepreneurial spirit, the drive of ingenuity, the drive of one who has seen the inside of a big corporation, learned from it, and dreamed of a better way.

The PMA show, or Photo Marketing Association, continues its yearly tradition of maintaining a network of photo imaging as well as the experience and know-how of the industry. The PMA represents 20,000 members from over 100 countries, who are all active within the imaging industry. As a reflection of the changes in the market, the PMA organization has also changed and has become more diverse. Nowadays, the member group consists of representatives coming from photo retail, manufacturers, commercial photo labs, professional sports and news photography, in addition to small album print suppliers and photo processing centers. The PMA 2012 Trade show focuses on an industry which is heavily affected by the unstable situation of the global financial economy. However, whether the latter will also stand in the way of the innovation and product introductions, remains to be revealed by the PMA International Convention & Trade Show in Anaheim Convention Center (California, US).
