General Imaging launched the X1 at PMA 2007, the Photo Marketing Association’s annual international conference and the leading photo industry convention and trade show. The General imaging X1 represents the first time General Electric has bestowed its highly regarded and trusted brand on a consumer camera line. General Imaging, led by Chairman & CEO Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, is the exclusive worldwide licensee for the GE cameras. The GE X1 offers popular advanced features as standard at every price point, including face tracking, image stabilization, red-eye removal, high ISO sensitivity, and panoramic stitching. The GE X1 sets a new benchmark for point-and-shoot digital cameras with a strong product identity.

“Consumers are demanding not just advanced features but stylish designs,” Komiya said. “And General Imaging is meeting that demand with cameras that are a statement of style while offering all the latest technology.” If you’re serious about photography and want maximum zoom, then the X1 is the camera for you. Loaded with features, it gives you all the tools you need to capture spectacular shots. Paired with the camera’s 12X optical zoom is a 5.1X digital zoom. Together, they give the X1 a stunning maximum zoom of 61.2X. Of course, with that kind of capability, the last thing you want is handshake. That’s why the X1 has a state of-the-art optical image stabilization system as well as a handgrip.

To make sure your pictures look their best, we’ve provided a generous 8 megapixel resolution. The X1’s user interface is intuitive, making it simple to switch from auto focus to manual. Plus a 2.5-inch LCD screen ensures that you can easily see the framing of your subject. A whole host of additional features like in-camera panoramic stitching, red-eye removal, face-tracking, electronic stabilization, MPEG-4 movie recording and a 4 gigabyte SD/SDHC expansion slot make the X1 irresistible. That’s why it’s one of the first cameras worthy of the GE name.
