SLR sensor cleaning

Changing lenses, dusty atmospheres and the day-to-day challenges a DSLR faces mean that before long those tell tale-black splodges appear on that stunning sunset you've waited to capture - You've got dust on the sensor. Dust is nothing new for photographers, but sensor modules on digital cameras are extremely delicate, and one wrong move could land you responsible for some serious repair or, worse, replacement costs. The solution is Visible Dust, a cleaning system which actually lifts the dust away from the sensor, instead of simply moving it around, and making the problem worse, like traditional brushes. The majority of dust found on sensors is dry dust. The Arctic Butterfly Sensor Brush is in its element here.

Visible Dust - SLR sensor cleaning
A quick push of the button on the housing and the fine filament bristles spin into life, charging them ready to attract and lift the dust from the sensor. Stop the spinning, sweep the brush across the sensor to lift the dirt. Spin the bristles again to release the dust and dirt they have collected. Powered by two AAA batteries, and with a reassuringly quiet DC motor, each Arctic Butterfly Sensor Brush comes with a robust plastic housing and cap. As you'd expect from a brand that is fast-becoming the number one choice for digital photographers, Visible Dust not only has a solution for dry dust - it can shift dried on, stubborn "welded" dust too, thanks to the streak free swab system.

Visible Dust swabs are sensor-size specific to ensure edge to edge cleaning in minimal strokes of the sensor. Each one is crafted to ensure even distribution of your chosen formula, and the disposable fabric swabs are made using a patented folding process to ensure streak free cleaning, a smoother flow and a secure grip with just one sweep. Choose from the popular VDust for day to day cleaning, Sensor Clean for cleaning with anti-fog properties or Smear Away for cleaning heavily soiled sensors. All Visible Dust solutions are uniquely completely free of alcohol and ethanol - substances that besides cleaning in the short term, can actually cause damage to your sensor. Supplied in small bottles, Visible Dust is completely safe for airline carry-on. Visible Dust makes sensor cleaning safe, easy, and effective.

PMA 2009 - The digital SLR camera market is booming. Compared to last year the DSLR camera sales increased with impressive numbers and it seems the digital SLR camera has become a mass consumer product. New entry level D-SLR cameras with 6 Megapixels surprisingly were welcomed very well by the amateur photographer and it seems that within this segment of the digital camera market the resolution range of 6 - 10 Megapixel fulfils the need of the amateur photographer. Without lenses the digital SLR camera would not be complete and it is for that reason we see a huge number of digital SLR lens introductions appear this year. There are multiple camera manufacturers offering their best own brand solution for its DSLR camera, but there are even more specialized lens manufacturers who offer an impressive number of lens solutions too. Keep your eye on the digital SLR lens section of this PMA 2009 report for the latest introductions!
