According to AppleInsider Sony is going to launch two new digital camera models; one of them is the Sony Cybershot DSC-S700. At this moment the information is not official, but the images AppleInsider has published with their article shows us clearly the new Sony Cybershot S700 camera. The timing is not strange. There is big event coming up in Las Vegas, the 2007 International CES show. We know right after New Years Eve other manufacturers have scheduled their introductions of some new models so there is a big chance we will get the official word from Sony too. The information so far is that the Sony S700 features a 7.2 Megapixel CCD sensor and a 3x optical zoom lens with a 2.4-inch LCD display.

The f/2.8 - f4.8 3x optical zoom has a focal length of 5.8 - 17.4mm. The new Sony Cybershot S700 will run on two AA format batteries and comes with approximately 24MB of internal memory. Of course like all Sony compact digital cameras the Sony Cybershot DSC-S700 supports the Memory Stick Duo format so you can expand the internal memory with some GB's. Furthermore AppleInsider's article informs us that the camera features a so called multi-connector for video, audio and USB 2.0 connectivity.

Other features of the Sony Cybershot S700 compact camera are automatic exposure and multiple scene modes. Although the information is unofficial and there a only a few details leaked it looks like Sony is going to introduce this entry-level digital camera before or during the CES 2007 event. The International CES 2007 show takes place in Las Vegas on 8 - 11 January 2007 and could be the first event where Sony is able to display the new Sony S700 model to the public.
