Storing nearly two hours of great-looking images and 5.1ch surround sound on 8cm DVD media, the newest Sony DCR-DVD506E DVD Handycam captures even more memories for your money. Every Sony DVD Handycam offers the ‘shoot-eject-play’ convenience of direct playback on a standard DVD player. The Sony Handycam DCR-DVD506E will be available throughout Europe from February 2007.

Sony DVD506E camcorder - Battery
With the addition of DVD+R DL (Dual-Layer) recording, the Sony DCR-DVD506E camcorder can now record for a maximum of 110 minutes, almost doubling the 60 minutes maximum record time of previous-generation DVD Handycam. The latest Sony DVD506E Handycam range doesn’t just store more on every DVD: it offers greater battery stamina than predecessor models, too. The new H-Series InfoLITHIUM battery dramatically boosts continuous recording STAMINA to 9 hours from a single charge.

Superb picture and sound quality are assured alongside greater record time and battery life. Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound recording now features the Sony DCR DVD 506E Handycam. The Sony 506 Handycam features Carl Zeiss optics for better resolution and contrast, and high-resolution ClearVid CMOS Sensor technology for supremely crisp, clear images. This Sony unique sensor reduces smear while increasing dynamic range for increased detailing in high-contrast scenes. You can also capture up to 6 .1 Megapixel still picture with the DVD506E featuring ‘Super SteadyShot’ Optical Image Stabilisation.

Sony DCR-DVD506 Handycam - Operation
Image quality and new features aside, the latest DVD506 model is even easier and more convenient to use. The Sony DCR-DVD506E DVD Handycam now includes a Colour Viewfinder for framing and reviewing shots, while additional Record Start/Stop and zoom buttons are thoughtfully placed on the border of the camcorder’s flip-out LCD screen. The new-generation Home menu and Help function on the LCD touch screen assures intuitive operation.

The DVD506E model features a high resolution (211k pixels) 2.7-inch Wide Clear Photo LCD plus screen for improved contrast and a colour range that’s approximately 1.6 times wider than normal Hybrid LCD screens. The Sony DVD506E features support for Memory Stick DUO removable media for still image recording, Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity to a PC for editing, and compatibility with wide range of DVD-R / -RW / +RW / +R DL media.

From lenses, microphones and high-power batteries to tripods and stylish carry cases, there’s a full range of official accessories to help you get even more from your Handycam. New-generation InfoLITHIUM H Series batteries feature Hybrid Lithium-Ion cells and ActiFORCE battery technology for higher capacity and faster recharging plus a more accurate, responsive indication of remaining capacity. Compatible with all latest Handycam models, three new batteries (NP-FH100, NP-FH70 and NP-FH50) offer capacities of 3980mAh, 1800mAh and 900mAh respectively. All can also be used with older camcorders using P Series batteries.

Two High Grade Lenses feature a newly-developed optical design that reduces their size and weight, making them an ideal match for latest ultra-portable Handycam models. Certified for high resolution video and still image use, the Sony VCL-HG1737C tele conversion lens and VCL-HG0737C wide conversion lens are compatible with the Sony DVD506E. Two new wide angle lenses have also been introduced. The Sony VCL-HA07A and the extremely compact VCL-E07A offer wider compatibility with the Handycam range at an even more affordable price. Other additions include stylish carry cases and the Sony SPK-HCC Sports Pack that waterproofs your Handycam down to 5 metres.

PMA 2009 - The digital SLR camera market is booming.
