Capture your life in picture-perfect High Definition with the new AVCHD Sony HDR-UX7E DVD Handycam. Significantly lighter and smaller than previous models, the new Sony UX7E brings your experiences to life with groundbreaking HD quality, day or night. The AVCHD DVD format stores true High Definition pictures on readily-available 8cm DVD discs. DVD+R DL (Dual Layer) technology allows both models to capture almost an hour’s worth of HD pictures and sound (LP mode). There’s an increasing range of replay options to share and enjoy footage captured with your AVCHD DVD Handycam. Shots can be enjoyed on any HD-ready television set via a connected AVCHD-compatible Blu-ray player including new PlayStation3.

Direct playback is also possible by linking the camcorder to an HD-ready television or display via its HDMI connector, and enjoy from your couch thanks to the supplied remote control. Delivering the highest picture quality yet from any Sony AVCHD camcorder, the Sony UX7E features a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens plus latest generation ClearVid CMOS Sensor technology to deliver better-looking High Definition pictures with greater sensitivity, wider dynamic range and reduced smear.

Sony HDR-UX7E AVCHD video camera - Colour mode
Shooting in low light is enhanced with a new Auto Slow Shutter function that automatically boosts minimum illumination performance to 2 lux compared with 5 lux on the UX1E. Closely matching the natural characteristics of the human eye, the new Sony HDR-UX7E HD Handycam features x.v.Colour mode, almost doubling the range of colours that are accurately reproduced. This Sony-developed technology complies with xvYCC (eXtended Video YCC), the newly-ratified ratified international standard that almost doubles the range of colours that can be accurately reproduced by video devices, covering almost 100 percent of natural colours. Closely matching the natural characteristics of the human eye, x.v.Colour reproduces more vivid, authentic reds, blues and greens beyond the limitations of the conventional sRGB colour space. x.v.Colour support also guarantees direct compatibility with latest televisions and other display devices that support the xvYCC standard.

Clear Photo LCD plus for better-looking results on screen. The flip-out LCD touch panel features Clear Photo LCD plus technology for a wider colour gamut and improved contrast compared with conventional screens. Clear Photo LCD plus ensures that framing and reviewing shots with the screen is now easier in bright ambient lighting conditions. For extra convenience, additional zoom and recording start/stop buttons are placed within easy reach on the frame of the LCD screen.

Sony HDR-UX7 video camera - Super SteadyShot and Operation
Crisp, clear still images up to 6.1 Megapixel resolution are also enhanced with the addition of ‘Super SteadyShot’ Optical Image Stabilisation that assures superb, blur-less results rivalling dedicated digital cameras. The UX7E offers convenient fingertip control of a wide range of manual functions. Focus, exposure and white balance can all be adjusted via the easy-to-reach Assignable Dial that’s conveniently mounted towards the front of the camcorder body close to the lens. Jack sockets for headphone and external microphone will be highly appreciated by enthusiastic videographers.

Sony UX7E AVCHD camera - Stamina and Dual recording
The Sony HDR-UX7E benefits from the latest generation of Sony H-Series InfoLITHIUM battery technology that extends shooting STAMINA up to 5 hours (with optional battery) of continuous recording. The Sony HDR-UX7E offers a Dual Rec function for simultaneous video and high resolution still image recording, while Smooth Slow Rec captures fast-moving action at 200 frames per second for extremely fluid, natural slow motion playback with sound. Also common to the new camcorder is a built-in flash for still photography, Active Interface Shoe and an Auto Lens Cover that slides shut to protect the Carl Zeiss lens when not in use. A slot allows storage of still pictures on removable Memory Stick DUO media. Standard Definition pictures and sound can be recorded on standard DVD media as an alternative to HD shooting.

Sony AVCHD camcorder - Optional accessories and Availability
From lenses, microphones and high-power batteries to tripods and stylish carry cases, there’s a full range of official accessories to help you get even more from your Handycam. New-generation InfoLITHIUM H Series batteries feature Hybrid Lithium-Ion cells and ActiFORCE battery technology for higher capacity and faster recharging plus a more accurate, responsive indication of remaining capacity. Compatible with all latest Handycam models, three new batteries (NP-FH100, NP-FH70 and NP-FH50) offer capacities of 3980mAh, 1800mAh and 900mAh respectively. All can also be used with older camcorders using P Series batteries. The Sony Handycam HDR-UX3E will be available throughout Europe from March 2007.
