PMA 2009 Report

Fujifilm is pleased to announce the introduction of the Fujifilm FinePix F40fd digital compact camera into the overseas market. Fujifilm was the first to introduce digital cameras with hardware-based Face Detection technology when the FinePix S6500fd was launched in July 2006. Because the technology was built-in to the camera’s processor, it was the world’s fastest, capturing faces in as little as 0.05 seconds. Face Detection has been popular among consumers and is now also available in the Fujifilm FinePix F31fd and FinePix Z5fd. In Spring 2007 Fujifilm adds the Fujifilm F40fd to its Face Detection FinePix lineup. Prices will be announced just before the introduction date in March 2007.

Fujifilm F40fd camera - Super CCD
The new Fujifilm F40fd features stunning, slim-line design, 8.3 Megapixel high-performance Fujifilm Super CCD sensor, 3x optical zoom lens and an easy-to-view 2.5-inch LCD monitor. The Fujifilm FinePix F40fd camera also features low-light performance of ISO 2000 at full resolution and Fujifilm’s unique Intelligent Flash system, which enables users to capture natural looking images without the ‘washed out’ effect that can be the result of traditional on-camera flash.

Fujifilm F40fd digital camera - Face detection
Fujifilm’s hardware-based Face Detection technology captures up to ten faces in a frame in as little as 0.05 seconds, optimizing focus and exposure to take the best portrait shots. Face Detection sets your imagination free to compose photos without the need to manually set the camera to get the best photo; a simple push of the shutter button is all that is required. In playback mode, Face Detection can be used to maintain faces as the key focus of a photo when cropping or zooming in.

Fujifilm Real Photo Technology
With Fujifilm’s proprietary Super CCD HR VI and RP (Real Photo) Processor II, the Fujifilm FinePix F40fd offers ISO 2000 sensitivity at full resolution of 8.3 Megapixels. This high sensitivity delivers images that are crisp and clear, even at night or when shooting fast-moving subjects. Intelligent Flash analyzes the subject and controls flash and exposure levels accordingly. When combined with Face Detection, Intelligent Flash adjusts flash power output to the optimum level for human skin tones.

Fujifilm F40fd compact camera - LCD monitor
The Fujifilm FinePix F40fd features an improved 2.5-inch LCD screen. It is coated with Fujifilm’s WV film, which expands screen viewing angle by 25 degrees (maximum) compared to the FinePix F31fd. Compact design (23.3mm thin), redesigned button layout and a new mode dial help make the Fujifilm F40fd incredibly easy to use. In addition, a new GUI makes the camera’s menu system simple to navigate, with ‘pop-up’ explanations to guide users to the correct mode or menu option.
