PMA 2008 Report

PMA 2007 coming up on March 8 - March 11 there are a huge number of new digital compact cameras and digital SLR camera introductions to be expected. Since we have no official word or NDA information from the Sony Company we feel free to surf the Internet and knock on the virtual door of some online retail shops, including the Canadian Sony Style website. Listed are a respectable number of ten new Cybershot digital cameras that have not been introduced yet. Some Cybershot digital camera model names are no surprise, others like the Sony Cybershot DSC-G1 makes us very curious about its specifications. To wake you up we will give you our findings.

Of course a new series of compact digital camera is interesting, but our real interest lies in what Sony's next move is toward their digital SLR camera line-up. Will the PMA 2007 give us more information or a first glimpse of a new Alpha camera? Their all kind of names floating around the forums, from Sony Alpha 10 to Sony DSLR A-1, but other than that there is not much info going around. The Sony Alpha 100 was well received by a huge number of consumers, but looking at Sony's impressive line of DSLR lenses it would be logical to introduce a semi-professional digital SLR camera soon! The PMA 2007 show will open on March 8 and closes on March 11, 2007.

As soon as there is more information about any of the new Cybershot digital camera models mentioned we will bring you an update. For the record; for those of you who get upset, we are not working under NDA with Sony. We just share our findings we often find in the same forums of websites who do work under NDA with Sony, but act like the three monkeys (see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil) or we find listed with the online shops and even official Sony websites.

The digital SLR camera market is booming. Compared to last year the DSLR camera sales increased with impressive numbers and it seems the digital SLR camera has become a mass consumer product. New entry level D-SLR cameras with 6 Megapixels surprisingly were welcomed very well by the amateur photographer and it seems that within this segment of the digital camera market the resolution range of 6 - 10 Megapixel fulfils the need of the amateur photographer. Without lenses the digital SLR camera would not be complete and it is for that reason we see a huge number of digital SLR lens introductions appear this year. There are multiple camera manufacturers offering their best own brand solution for its DSLR camera, but there are even more specialized lens manufacturers who offer an impressive number of lens solutions too. Keep your eye on the digital SLR lens section of this PMA 2007 report for the latest introductions!
